Part II of the summer cruise 2021: Eastern Gulf of Finland

Japanese Gulf of Finland was this season’s major vacation spot. We had not beforehand sailed east of Helsinki so this space was fully new to us. This space supplied some stunning sheltered archipelagos (for instance Pellinge archipelago) for anchoring in pure harbours in addition to extra open stretches alongside the coast with some stunning outer islands situated subsequent to the open Gulf of Finland.

Listed below are some pictures from Japanese Gulf of Finland.

Pellinge Archipelago (Porvoo) supplied some good pure harbours for anchoring.
Tied to a rock at Norra Sandö (Porvoo). With our draft (1,8 m), we had been two meters in need of landfall.
Norra Sandö has a few of the greatest seashores within the space.

Joys of summer time
From Pellinge Archipelago we continued to Mustaviiri island (Loviisa).
View over to Russian island of Suursaari (Gogland) situated in the course of the Gulf of Finland.
We anchored within the lee of Mustaviiri island.
There isn’t a pier on Mustaviiri, however boats with shallower draft can anchor at breakwater.
One of many most interesting nights of the summer time (Mustaviiri).

Mustaviiri is a part of the Japanese Gulf of Finland Nationwide Park.

The primary week of June was nice with loads of sunshine and exquisite summer time evenings like this.
Virluoto was our turning level for this season. Positioned about 10 nautical miles from Russian border, it’s the easternmost membership harbour in our Cruising membership’s community within the Gulf of Finland.
After a interval of largely mild winds at first of June, we had some recent headwind when crusing from Virluoto to Loviisa.

Arriving in Helsinki on nineteenth of June.
